Middlesex County Hospital Site

The MCH parcel contains woods, wetlands, and old fields. These are important components of the Western Greenway.

Encroachment in wetlands has already created flooding problems for downstream residences and businesses. Impervious surfaces created by further development can make the problems worse.

Some adjacent roads – such as Walnut Street – are narrow and winding. Residents feel that there is already too much traffic for the nearby roadway system.

Fast traffic on nearby Concord Avenue poses an increasing safety concern. Warning signs such as this do little to resolve the problems.

In August 2003, DCAM used Section 548 to auction off 6.92 acres adjacent to the land in question
